My 2014 Vintage Gem

Hello my little unloved blog...

I recently went shopping round one of my ULTIMATE favourite destinations, Brick Lane. A hop, skip and a jump from my flat in East London, I just love having things like this on my door step, especially on those "Oh what to do on a non hungover Sunday" days.

I found this amazing smoking jacket in the sale for a mere 4 quid and combined it with possibly my favourite shoes ever, albeit a pair which the majority (note, all) hate. Who cares I love it! I picked up this adorable vintage bag from a weekend pop up market for a bargainous £20. It's woven red leather and so unique, I have never seen anything like it in my life and just knew it had to be mine...

I hope to start getting back in the blogging game more now Summer is out of the way and things (hopefully) start to calm down for me. But I very much doubt that!

Have you found any vintage gems in and around East London?

My summer 2014 outfits so far...

I admit, it has been quite some time since I blogged!  A key part of not blogging has been thinking about what the purpose of my blog is and why I should do it. Being 26, fashion blogging is starting to feel like a 'young person's game' so I need to go back to the drawing board and think about why I should blog. Merge this with a full time career in PR and living a hectic social life in London, blogging takes up quite a bit of time so I need to make sure it's worth investing in. But hey, it's a bit of fun and a way to meet new people and document what I wear for my kids to pore over and say 'why the hell did you wear that'.

I'm a prolific Instagrammer and the majority of my recent #ootd photos are from there. You can find me on emsgloriousgarments and of course, Twitter via @EmmaMartinRed. So here is my Summer 2014 outfits so far...enjoy!

Greece: H&M dress and Primark hat

Primark sunglasses and OLD ASOS headband - apt for Greece.

Boohoo trousers, Primark mesh top and flatforms

Vintage trousers, BANK platforms, ASOS headband and Franklin Tree crop top

Arcade Fire at British Summer Time: Tikka headband and gems - all Ebay

A few standard high street pieces in there, not to mention some new boutiques I've found through Pinterest and Instagram namely Shop Floor Whore and Lamoda. I also discovered Franklin Tree whilst shopping in the vintage markets in Brick Lane - a great indepedent label, I want everything in their collection so if you find yourself in East London on a Saturday go visit their stall. You are in for a treat.

I've still got Brighton Pride, Notting Hill Carnival, Bestival and Barcelona still to come so need to get some more gems before then!

Depop: My new obsession

How cool are these vintage earrings I found on exciting fashion treasure trove Depop market? A style steal at a tenner, I'm lusting over huge earrings just now:

London Fashion Week

London Fashion Week. My first official one. I can now tick that one off the bucket list. So here is a little insight into what I got up to the past week...

I first attended the TTYA ASOS launch event at the Basement club under the London Edition hotel on Berners Street in central London. I loved the aesthetic of the show however felt a little sorry for the models under the searing heat with their colour pop wigs on! These photos aren't great but you get the drill...

A cool collection, the jersey range offers tall ladies a funky array of pieces in the sport luxe vein. Admittedly, standing at 5" myself the clothes aren't for me but if I was a tall lady then I'd be in there like a shot. Here is what the short me wore to the party:

Hat - Vintage Kangol, Red pinafore - Primark (4 quid!), White polo top - Boohoo.
On Saturday afternoon I attended Turkish designer Serap Pollard's LFW show at Charing Cross Hotel, a short skip and a hop from Somerset House. Beautiful venue, beautiful live music and some beautiful clothes. The ideal Saturday if you ask me. The collection showcased recycled clothing in an array of gem hues, my particular favourites being the orange embellished shirt. and HUGE green dress. Here are some of my favourite outfits below:

THE EMBELLISHMENT!

My friend and I then trudged through the wind and rain for a gander round Somerset House to perve on the outfits. We then topped this off with a trek to Byron for a huge feast. I may love you fashion but I love food more. Here's a wee sneak peak at our outfits and the obligatory selfie:

Hat - H&M, White polo top - Boohoo, PVC bralet - Primark, PVC skirt - Monki, Panda bag - random Ebay boutique.

Well, back to reality for me - roll on next season!

I'm exhausting my current fashion blog favourites and would really like to find some more so please send on your links folks and give me a wee follow on Twitter and Instagram if you fancy.

RED

A few weeks ago I blogged about loving Amy Adams outfits in "American Hustle". Well she's only gone and pulled it out the bag again with this amazing 70s shirt and  flares combo at the Oscars luncheon:

I LOVE this look and will be hunting out some flares this weekend when I embark on London Fashion Week outfit shopping. THE STRESS.

It's all about the swing!

I love this wee leopard swing number I picked up from Boohoo. I think it was about 15 quid so an absolute bargain too! I love the way it can be dressed up or down - the saving grace of being able to buy clothes whilst living in the most expensive city in the world!

Be sure to give me a follow on Instagram as I'm now a part of the iPhone club woo: EmsGloriousGarments...

Style icon of the moment: Amy Adams in American Hustle

Have you seen American Hustle yet? A great script, lots of funny moments and a scene stealing role from Jennifer Lawrence makes it a must see movie. However, for me the best thing about this movie is Amy Adams wardrobe in the film. At the moment I am loving a 60s/70s vibe channeling Lana Del Rey make up and now I'm tempted to get some American Hustle inspiration in my wardrobe too.

Just look at these outfits, how amazing are they!

They remind me so much of my nan's style back in the day which can only be a good thing. I may swerve the navel gazing but give me floppy hats, chunky necklaces and wrap dresses anytime.
